16 December 2024RSG TurkeyWebinars Dr. Elisa Frezza After obtaining a master’s degree in Materials Science from the University of Padua (Italy) in 2010, Elisa Frezza continued her studies with a Ph.D. in the Department of Chemical Sciences at the University of Padua under the supervision of Prof. Ferrarini. Her doctoral research addressed soft matter problems, such as the properties of liquid crystalline phases formed by double-helical nucleic acid oligomers, from the perspective of physical and theoretical chemistry. During her postdoctoral research period, she worked in the MMSB CNRS UMR 5086/Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1 laboratory under the supervision of Dr. Lavery, focusing on biophysics, bioinformatics, and structural biology as part of the Human Brain Project. Since September 2017, Elisa Frezza has been serving as an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Pharmacy at Université Paris Cité within the CiTCoM laboratory. Her research activities address problems ranging from materials science to biology, employing theoretical and computational approaches that interest a broad scientific community. She has developed and applied various methods, including all-atom and coarse-grained molecular dynamics simulations, normal mode analysis in internal coordinates, and biostatistics. Elisa Frezza works on complex projects requiring diverse methodologies and collaborates with numerous teams comprising experimentalists and theorists. Her research is interdisciplinary, situated at the intersection of physics, chemistry, biology, and computer science, and spans multiple scales from molecular to meso- and macro-levels. Her recent primary research interests include modeling protein-protein and protein-RNA interactions, studying RNA molecule dynamics and reactivity, integrating experimental data, and advancing normal mode analysis in internal coordinates to investigate large conformational changes in biomacromolecules.
